Farhad Ghafoor (Pashto: فرهاد غفور) (also spelled as Farhad Ghafour) is an Pashtunfact|date=May 2008 singer. He sings both in Pashto and Persian. He lives at the moment in Kabul, Afghanistan, and runs an IT consultancy and wireless communications provider.

His debut album Hamwatan (pers.: "My Countrymen") was released in 2007 by TriVision recording studios.

Biography

Farhad Ghafoor was born on June 1, 1965 in Afghanistan. Growing up he was influenced by the many late and great Persian (Tajik) singers of Afghanistan such as Ahmad Zahir and Isaaq Baghlani. He attended the prestigious Lycee Esteqlal in Kabul and performed countless concerts, becoming well received by his peers. In the summer of 1981, Farhad Ghafoor started a long journey through many countries. In 1988, Farhad Ghafoor finally arrived in Virginia, where he lived until returning to Afghanistan. Until 2002, Farhad Ghafoor had not seen his own country. However he traveled back there and was well received by the people (after the release of his hit video "Hamwatan" in 2001). Farhad Ghafoor continued to thrive in the music industry and gained renown. He now runs an IT company in Kabul.
