Nihongo|Aishō|愛荘町|Aishō-chō is a town located in Echi District in eastern
Shiga Prefecture ,Japan . The town was founded onFebruary 13 ,2006 when the towns of Echigawa and Hatashō merged. The name "Aishō" combines the first character in Nihongo|"Echigawa"|愛知川 and the second character in Nihongo|"Hatashō"|秦荘.The town had an estimated
population of 19,829 people as of February 2007. The total area is 37.98 km².Neighboring communities
The town borders the cities of Hikone and Higashiomi and the towns of Kōra, Taga and Toyosato in Inukami District.
