- Dow Village
-
Dow Village is a mixed village in southern Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago. It is often confused with another 'Dow Village' located in central Trinidad, located in the town of California, just east of The Southern Main Road, near Couva.
The "South" Dow Village is located south of Otaheite Bay, north of Fyzabad and west of Debe.
Dow Village is a fairly rural area, however some development has taken place recently, as well as an increase in traffic.
Dow Village (Central Trinidad) is famous for its annual play based on the Ramayan - a Hindu text - called Ramleela.
The village is sandwiched between the heavily industrialized Pt. Lisas Industrial estate and the now defunct Caroni Limited, Brechin Castle Sugar Factory.
The sugar factory was the source of the employment of many of the original inhabitants.
