John D. Mayer

John D. Mayer is a psychologist at the University of New Hampshire.

He is a personality psychologist. He co-developed a popular model of "emotional intelligence" with Dr. Peter Salovey.cite book|last=Compton|first=William C,|title=An Introduction to Positive Psychology|publisher=Wadsworth Publishing|date=2005|pages=23-40|chapter=2|isbn=0-534-64453-8] He is one of the authors of the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT), Salovey P and Grewal D (2005) The Science of Emotional Intelligence. Current directions in psychological science, Volume14 -6 ] and has developed a new, integrated framework for personality psychology, known as the Systems Framework for Personality Psychology.

Dr. Mayer received his B.A. at the University of Michigan, his Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University.
