Avie Luthra is an Indian director and
scriptwriter who is known for his capacity to create short films. Some of his creations have been incredibly successful in the media and in international film festivals. His second film entitled "Cross my heart" was awarded special commendation by London Film Festival TCM Shorts in 2002.His writing credits include writing episodes of
The Canterbury Tales in 2003 and also writing the filmIndian Dream . He wroteOne Night in Bhopal , a documentary for theBritish Broadcasting Corporation , in 2004. He achieved a new height in his career with his short film "Lucky", about a South African AIDS orphan, which premiered at the Edinburgh Film Festival and got a special mention at the AFI Festival in Los Angeles. "Lucky" was nominated for theBAFTA Award for Best Short Film in 2006.He is currently working on adapting Preethi Nair's book entitled
A 100 Shades of White for the BBC.As of October 2007, he was in pre-production for his first feature film "Mad, Sad & Bad".
