TLS traces its development from the 1978 establishment of the Tung Ling Bible School (TLBS) in Singapore as a short term
Bible school to train and prepare workers within the largercharismatic movement . The prime movers for the establishment of the TLBS were Goh Ewe Kheng (Church of Singapore ), James Wong (Anglican Diocese of Singapore ), Des Short (Assemblies of God in New Zealand ), Colin Campbell and Gordon Moore. A curriculum was developed with the help ofFaith Bible College ,Tauranga ,New Zealand , and the first batch of students accepted in 1979. Full Gospel Tabernacle and later president of theNational Evangelical Christian Fellowship ,Eu Hong Seng , initiated the establishment of an extension centre of the TLBC inMalaysia . With the approval of the Board of Directors of TLBC, a Malaysian Board was set up comprising of Eu Hong Seng, Wong Kim Kong (Independent), Richard Toh (Malaysia Baptist Convention ), Phua Seng Tiong (Methodist Church in Malaysia ), J. S. Suvishesha Iraiyiyal Kallorie) is part of TLS but has its own administrative structure and focuses on providing training in the
Tamil language with a branch campus inTaiping ,Perak .In 2001, a 3 month School of Ministry program was established in India by the
Harvest Training Institute with cooperation from TLS. The program is conducted in Tamil and TLS provides significant support to the program by means of subsidies as well as the provision of teaching staff .Organization
TLS is governed by a Board of Directors.
