T-type personality

T-type personality

A T-type personality is a risk-taker; the "T" standing for . The term was coined by American psychologist Dr. Frank Farley of Temple University, in the late 1980s.

According to Dr. Farley, T-types have traditionally been males, but more girls are now becoming risk-takers as social barriers dropped. T-types often have symptoms parents can recognize as early as age two.

"They're very exploratory. They're the kid who wanders off into the woods. They don't cling to you. They show fearlessness," Farley said.

Dr. Farley has studied risk behavior for 30 years.
