Integra LifeSciences Corporation, based in Plainsboro, New Jersey, is a leading medical technology company. Integra is a publicly traded company and is listed under the symbol IART. The company was founded in 1989 and is credited with manufacturing the first piece of artificial skin. Integra's main competitors are Medtronic Inc. and Johnson & Johnson.

On July 31, 2006, the Company acquired Kinetikos Medical, Inc. (KMI), a developer and manufacturer of orthopedic implants and surgical devices for small bone and joint procedures involving the foot, ankle, hand, wrist and elbow. On July 6, 2006, Integra acquired Canada Microsurgical Ltd. (Canada Microsurgical). On May 12, 2006, the Company acquired Miltex Holdings, Inc. (Miltex), a provider of surgical and dental hand instruments to alternate site facilities, which includes physician and dental offices and ambulatory surgery care sectors. On March 3, 2006, Integra acquired the assets of the Radionics Division of Tyco Healthcare Group, L.P. Radionics is engaged in the design, manufacture and sale of advanced minimally invasive medical instruments in the fields of neurosurgery and radiation therapy.
