Suzanne Bonamici is a Democratic politician from the U.S. state of Oregon. She represents District 17 in the Oregon State Senate. Bonamici was first elected to the Oregon House of Representatives in 2006 and served on the Judiciary Committee, Consumer Protection Committee (Vice Chair), Health Care Committee and Health Care Subcommittee on Health Policy (Vice Chair). Bonamici is a graduate of the University of Oregon and the University of Oregon School of Law. Before entering the Legislature, she was an attorney with the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C. and with a law firm in Portland. She is married to prominent Portland attorney Michael Simon. They have two children, Andrew and Sara.

On April 302008 Bonamici was appointed to represent District 17 in the Oregon State Senate. The seat became vacant when then state Senator Brad Avakian was appointed Commissioner of the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries.cite news
