Gerald Bridgeman, 6th Earl of Bradford

Gerald Michael Orlando Bridgeman, 6th Earl of Bradford TD, DL, JP (29 September 1911 – 30 August 1981), was a British peer and soldier.

The oldest son of the 5th Earl of Bradford and Hon. Margaret Cecilia Bruce was educated at Harrow School, London and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1932. In 1961, he received additionally a Master of Arts from Trinity College.

Bridgeman served in the Shropshire Yeomanry, Royal Armoured Corps, part of the Territorial Army and reached the rank of Captain. He fought in the Second World War, decorated with the Territorial Decoration.

He was Justice of Peace for Shropshire in 1949 and became Deputy Lieutenant two years later. Bridgeman succeeded to his father's titles on 21 March 1957.

Family

On 31 October 1946, Lord Bradford married Mary Willoughby Montgomery, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Hassard Montgomery. They had four children:

*Richard Thomas Orlando Bridgeman, 7th Earl of Bradford (b. 1947)
*Lady Serena Mary Bridgeman (1949–2001), married Richard Arnold Andrew, son of John Ramsay Andrew on 27 April 1978
*Lady Caroline Louise Bridgeman (b. 1952), married Brian Martin Garnell, son of Henry Joseph Garnell on 5 October 1974
*Hon. Charles Gerald Orlando Bridgeman (b. 1954), married Nicola Marie-Thérèse Sales, daughter of Brian Sales on 17 January 1982
