Paride Taban

Paride Taban (1936) is a Sudanese Emeritus Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church and is co-founder of the New Sudan Council of Churches. Taban was Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Torit in southern Sudan from 1983 until 2004. Since his retirement from the diocese, he has been leading an effort to make peace in Sudan real by setting up the Kuron Peace Village, established in 2005.

Peace Village Kuron endeavors through education and a demonstration farm to help people of southern Sudan produce enough food. It also works to provide education for people living nearby, emphasizing education of girls, but also providing classes for boys and adults. The farm also brings people of different tribes together, an attmept to promote general peace among the many neighboring ethnic groups.
