Amtrak shares the building with the BNSF Railway, which uses the building as a yard office. The station is served by Amtrak's Chicago to Oakland California Zephyr, with one daily train in each direction between the two cities.
Currently, plans are underway to move Amtrak into the original Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad depot, immediately adjacent to the current facility.[2]
Of the six Iowa stations served by Amtrak, Creston was the sixth busiest in FY2010, boarding or detraining an average of approximately 13 passengers daily.[3]
