Sword of Allah

Sword of Allah

Sword of Allah ( _ar. سيف الله, English transliteration: Saifullah) was a title given to Khalid ibn al-Walid by Muhammad, the prophet of Islam. The name is considered by some to be an Islamic honorary title for Muslims of military valor, especially in (re-)establishing Islam against a "kafir" opponent. Known examples include:
*7th century general Khalid ibn al-Walid
*Anzor Astemirov (nom de guerre 'Saifullah'), a senior field commander in the Caucasian Front

The term is also found, like many titles, in various individual names of persons and places, such as:
*Anwar Saifullah Khan
*Qilla Saifullah, and after him Qila Saifullah (a Pakistani Beluchi town) in Qilla Saifullah District
*Saifullah Khan
*Salim Saifullah Khan
*Zafar Saifullah
