Pier Paolo Polcari (also known as Paolo Polcari or just Polcari) was born in
Naples in 1969 and is best known as a keyboard player, composer, and sometimes producer in the Italian bandAlmamegretta between 1990 and 1999. During this time, the band released 5 albums primarily forBMG Records inItaly , touring Italy andEurope several times for a total of approximately 600 gigs. Studio collaborations include works withMassive Attack ,Adrian Sherwood ,Bill Laswell ,Transglobal Underground ,Zion Train , and many others.At the end of 1999, he moved to
London , where he spend two years acquiring a masters degree in film and video composition withMaestro Amit Sen .He composed several soundtracks for cinema, including "Pianese Nunzio" (Venice Film Festival, 1996), "Luna Rossa" (Venice Film Festival 2001), "Passo a Due" in 2006, and other theatre and documentary works. In addition, he produces and remixes music for different artists from labels such as Universal, BMG,
Sony , andNun . In 2003, he co-wrote and produced "Wop", the firstRaiz (Almamegretta singer) solo album.In London, he works as a producer for dance labels
Shoreline ,Mikeli Music , andBetchwood ; and also collaborates in studio and live performances with many artists and companies."Home P-Fi" is his first solo project available worldwide on iTunes.
In 2006, he started to work as a producer for the violin virtuoso
Lino Cannavacciuolo ("Nenia", "Segesta", "Il Decamerone", "Crimini") and for the prominent NeapolitanPeppe Barra .He is currently producing new material for Almamegretta and he will tour Italy and Europe with the band in 2007.
