The Loves are a heavily 1960s influenced pop band, formed in 2000 and based in Cardiff, Wales.

Their debut album "Love" was released on Track and Field Records in 2004 but attracted generally hostile press [http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/music/sites/loves/pages/love.shtml] and was commercially unsuccessful. With a different, better looking lineup, a new album "Technicolour" was released in 2007.

The Loves have attracted criticism from many reviewers and people in the music industry for their alleged reliance on pastiche in their recordings and live performances [http://www.moles.co.uk/reviews.ihtml?step=3&id=614] , although the "Technicolour" album was generally critically well received and live they are literally a rock and roll machine [http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/entertainment/music/album_reviews/s/236/236718_the_loves__technicolour_cargo.html] , [http://www.musicomh.com/gigs/loves_0207.htm] .

In early 2006, The Loves' lead singer and songwriter, Simon Love, collaborated with Bobby Grindrod (frontman of London indie band Friends of The Bride) and Cardiff's Pagan Wanderer Lu on the short-lived musical project entitled 'A Conversation Piece'.

Their third album '3' is due out in 2009 and features guest artists such as Delia Sparrow, Hefner's Darren Hayman and Harry Hill's TV Burp writer Daniel Maier.

The Loves are probably best known at the time of writing for the publicity caused by their 2006 cover of "The Rainbow Connection" by Kermit the Frog. Their most famous member is award winning comedian Danielle Ward who plays the bass.
