Dylan Jones-Evans (born 16 May 1966) is Director of Enterprise and Innovation at the University of Wales and Chairman of the Welsh Conservatives' Economic Commission.

Professional career

He was chair of entrepreneurship and small business management at the University of Glamorgan. He has subsequently held academic chairs at the University of Wales Bangor and NEWI in Wrexham. He is currently visiting professor of entrepreneurship at the Turku School of Economics in Finland and was Director of the National Entrepreneurship Observatory at Cardiff University for the period 2005-2008.

He is a regular commentator within the media with weekly columns in both the Western Mail and the Daily Post. He has published over 100 academic articles within journals, academic books and international conferences, and is the co-author of the textbook ‘Enterprise and Small Business’, published by the Financial Times.

He works with a number of small growing firms in Wales through his role as director of the Wales Fast Growth Fifty. In addition, he sits on the Executive Committee for the Institute of Directors in Wales.

Political career

He stood as a candidate for the National Assembly for Wales for the Welsh Conservative Party in the Aberconwy constituency in 2007. He came second to Gareth Jones of Plaid Cymru and increased the vote to 6.290 (or 30.4 per cent of the vote). He is not currently standing for any parliamentary seat but is acting as Chairman of the Welsh Conservatives' Economic Commission.
