Dame Beulah R. Bewley,
DBE , is a retired Britishpublic health doctor and ex-President of theMedical Women's Federation on theGeneral Medical Council .She qualified MB BCh BAO from [http://www.tcd.ie Trinity College Dublin] in 1953 and was conferred with an [http://www.tcd.ie/Secretary/Communications/News/archive/summer02.pdf Honorary LLD] in 2002. Her Medical School will celebrate its [http://www.medicine.tcd.ie/tercentenary/history.php Tercentenary] in 2011 and she has graciously agreed to join the Tercentenary Board.
She served on the
Royal Society of Medicine 's section onEpidemiology and Public Health. In her career she worked at several hospitals including the AcademicDepartment of Community Medicine atKing's College Hospital Medical School, Denmark Hill, London and theLondon School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine .In 1982 she served on the
Faculty of Public Health Medicine of theRoyal College of Physicians of theUnited Kingdom and at the Department of Community Medicine atSt Thomas's Hospital Medical School in London.Dr. Bewley was knighted in 2000 for her services to public health and in recognition of her leading role in promoting
