(2007)"Ein Stern (…der deinen Namen trägt)" is the name of a DJ Ötzi and Nik P. 2007 single.

It reached number one in Germany and Austria and number 9 in the European Union. It has received airplay on some North American radio stations such as 101.7 WORLD FM in Edmonton, Canada.

Background

Seven years after his smash hit "Hey Baby", DJ Ötzi released this single with the Austrian singer Nik P., who had written and released this song under his own name 8 years ago.In those seven years DJ Ötzi didn't have a top ten hit in any country, except "I am the Musicman" (No. 1 in Japan) and "Sieben Sünden" (featuring Marc Pircher).In the end of 2006 a German Schlager artist called Nic popularized a version of Nik P.'s "Einen Stern,..." amongst the vacationing German club scene in Majorca, Spain, where "Schlagermusik" is particularly popular. One month later Ötzi recorded this single again and it debuted at No. 1 in Austria and two months later topped the German charts. It is the reason why "Say It Right", a hit by Nelly Furtado didn't reach the top of the charts in Germany despite peaking at number two for nine non-consecutive weeks.

The most popular radio stations in Austria and Germany declined to play the song because its genre didn't fit their programme style. The single is one of the few Schlager hits to reach number 1 in Austria and Germany.
