The name Andrex comes from
St Andrew s's Mill inWalthamstow , where the toilet tissue was first made in 1942. It was the first 2-ply tissue. Kimberly Clark, the owner, is the world's largest tissue maker. Almost all Andrex mainstream is made inNorthfleet (All coloured Andrex is produced there from Pulp to Packet and most of the White produced is produced in Northfleet), while Flint andBarrow-in-Furness supplement the production and conversion of Mainstream, but also produce and convert other Andrex lines, such as Puppy on a Roll, Quilts and Aloe Vera.The famous Andrex Puppy appeared in 1972, and since then there have been 120 different adverts with the scampering puppy. In 2004, it replaced its advertising slogan "Soft, Strong and very Long", with "Tuggable, Huggable softness".
