Fields are an Anglo-Icelandic electronic/indie band formed in London. In early 2006 the band played their first live shows. This sparked a bidding war amongst UK record companies. They eventually signed a deal with Atlantic Records which allows them to keep releasing records through their own Black Lab Records set-up with the album being released by Atlantic. They have recorded their debut album with producer Michael Beinhorn who has produced the likes of Herbie Hancock, Korn, Soundgarden and Marilyn Manson.

They embrace small record label ideals and release more vinyl records than CD singles. Most of these are now hard to find the originals of, but the majority of the tracks are on iTunes.

History

The band formed in 2006 starting with Nick Peill who first sketched out the songs that would end up being the basis of Fields. The full line up is comprised of Icelandic vocalist/keyboard player Þórunn Antonía, drummer Henry Spenner, bassist Matty Derham and lead guitarist Jamie Putnam.

On April 2nd 2007, Fields released their debut album "Everything Last Winter" produced by Beinhorn at Sun Studios, Dublin.

An end to Hibernation

On 27th February 2008, Nick Peil wrote on the fields myspace blog that the band are coming out of "hibernation". Currently they are putting the finishing touches and the final mix of their second forthcoming album. Nick described the album to be "..quite a different animal to 'Everything..'. Less dense and more optimistic." The album is supposed to be about finding beauty and hope in bad situations and is based on 'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy that tells the tale of a father son relationship in a post apocalyptic America.Nick also went on to say that fellow band member Jamie Putnam has left the band due to indifferences of the bands direction.

On Friday 14th of March three new demos of fields appeared on their myspace - it is not known if these demos are included on the albumThe demos are called The Worst Love, Sun In Your Eyes and Carry the Fire.

Play.com now lists their second album, 'Lost Frequencies', as available from 6th October 2008. There is currently no tracklisting given.

Music press for Fields has been complimentary. They have played many tours with bands such as Wolfmother & Bloc Party and are embarking on their second headline tour in April 2007 to coincide with the release of the album.
