Ergyng , a south-east Welsh kingdom of the early medieval period. The kingdom of Ergyng became independent under Peibo's rule.Life
Peibio was a son of King Erb of Gwent. According to Prof.
Wendy Davies , theBook of Llandaff shows his reign to have covered the approximate period, 555-585. His epithet, "Clafrog" indicates that he suffered fromleprosy . Although, this was later mistaken for the Welsh word "Glafoeriog", meaning 'Dribbler'. Traditional details of Peibo's life are recorded in the 'Life of StDubricius ', his grandson. Discovering his daughter was pregnant, he tried, unsuccessfully, to have her executed in several different horrible ways. Eventually, when the baby Dubricius was born, he cured his grandfather of his dribbling (presumably meaning his leprosy).References
