Holywell, Cornwall

Holywell, Cornwall

Holywell is a small coastal village near Newquay in Cornwall, England, UK. W. J. Burley, the author of the Wycliffe novels, lived here.

The name has two possible origins. There is a stone built Holy well at Trevornick within a courtyard below the golf course. Another holywell is in a natural cave on the north side of the beach that is called the "Holywell cave". The cave is only reachable at low tide. Inside the cave contains many pools or wells that have been formed by natural build up of minerals.
