The Passeier Valley ( _it. Val Passiria; _de. Passeiertal), or Passiria Valley, is the valley of the
Passirio "(de: Passer)" river, in the mountains of northernItaly . The Passirio river is a left-bank tributary to theAdige "(de: Etsch; lad: Adesc)". At the mouth of the valley, where the two rivers join, stands the town ofMerano "(de: Meran; lad. Meran)". From there, the valley runs north to the Timmelsjoch (Passo del Rombo) mountain pass, which leads toSölden , in theÖtztal valley ofAustria .The following municipalities are located in the valley: Kuens (Caines), Moos (Moso), Riffian (Rifiano), St. Leonhard (San Leonardo), and St. Martin (San Martino). The population of the valley predominantly speak German as their first language.
