Passeier Valley

The Passeier Valley ( _it. Val Passiria; _de. Passeiertal), or Passiria Valley, is the valley of the Passirio "(de: Passer)" river, in the mountains of northern Italy. The Passirio river is a left-bank tributary to the Adige "(de: Etsch; lad: Adesc)". At the mouth of the valley, where the two rivers join, stands the town of Merano "(de: Meran; lad. Meran)". From there, the valley runs north to the Timmelsjoch (Passo del Rombo) mountain pass, which leads to Sölden, in the Ötztal valley of Austria.

The following municipalities are located in the valley: Kuens (Caines), Moos (Moso), Riffian (Rifiano), St. Leonhard (San Leonardo), and St. Martin (San Martino). The population of the valley predominantly speak German as their first language.
