- Guardrail (band)
Guardrail was a band from
Wilkes-Barre ,Pennsylvania . They combined various styles of music includinghardcore punk ,death metal , andspeed metal . They were signed to Penny Candy Records for most of the band's existence, later generating much interest from various labels. The original lineup consisted of Brian Emershaw and Don Vee on guitar, Conor Logan on drums, and a mysterious figure simply named "Elliott" on vocals. Conor Logan left after the first tour to go back to college. He later went on to drum for Shelter, which featured
Ray Cappo , singer of legendaryNew York Hardcore bandYouth Of Today . Don Vee is currently playing guitar in The Psycho Sinners, and Ian Anderson plays drums in Feculence. Elliott has gone on to be a successful underground horror movie director.Their live shows were incredibly raucous, usually featuring
pyrotechnics , nudity, and violence. They were banned from playing many venues, and their profanity-laced vocals and onstage antics often led to fights and arrests. In 1998, the band came under investigation by the
FBI for allegedly distributing music promoting suicide following the deaths of two teens who were avid fans of the band. No charges were officially filed, but the investigation put such a strain on the band that they disbanded in the summer of 2000, following a tour of Europe that was cut short. They played one final show at the Wilkes-Barre Music Fest, playing to a packed house of over 1,000 people.Members
