Academy of Shotokan Karate
- Academy of Shotokan Karate
This Academy was founded in 2003 [ http://www.theshotokanway.com/davehazardprofile.html The Skotokan Way Magazine] ] by Sensei Dave Hazard to promote excellence in Shotokan karate as a martial art rather than just a sport. Emphasis is placed on study of the kata and their applications in self defence. This move was approved by the late Keinosuke Enoeda Sensei, whose principles are continued by the federation.
The academy has high quality member clubs in Britain, Éire and Canada.
The association's competitions are held biennially in Nottingham, England. The first competition was attended by Enoeda Sensei's widow, who was presented with a photograph of her husband from the 1960s which she had not seen before.
