Jim McAvoy

Jim McAvoy, full name James Flanagan McAvoy, is a Scottish-born businessman based in London, England. McAvoy is best know for being part of the consortium which attempted to take over Celtic football club in 1998. McAvoy, along with Jim Kerr of Simple Minds, Bono of U2 and former Celtic manager Kenny Dalglish, backed by the venture capital fund Bankers Trust Capital Partners made the bid for the club in November 1998, however the majority shareholder, Fergus McCann refused to entertain the bid and it subsequently failed.

McAvoy's main business activities have involved providing consulting services to Local Government and Local Education authorities, notably the Learning Trust for Hackney, Northumbria and Bedford. he is currently involved with EDIX Live Limited, a company supplying educational management software to local education authorities.
