Sharon Grace is an American
artist , currently serving as an Associate Professor of New Genres in theSan Francisco Art Institute , who is known for helping to initiate the use of many forms ofelectronic media based inaudiovisual technology .Since 1970, Grace's work has been completely
interactive ; in 1977, she worked as an artist/technician atNASA and produced the first artistic transmission viasatellite , EMITE/RECIBE, using NASA's communication satellite. She also participated in the creation of the first coast-to-coast "split screen" between artists inNew York andSan Francisco . Grace has published numerous articles in the field, and has received grants and fellowships from theNational Endowment for the Arts , as well as fellowships from theRockefeller Foundation and theWilliam and Flora Hewlett Foundation . Her work has been exhibited at theSan Francisco Film Arts Foundation ; theFresno Art Museum ; theSan Francisco Museum of Modern Art ; the Art Museum ofBerkeley University ; theMuseum of Modern Art in New York ; theVenice Biennale , and other international venues. Grace has served on the boards of Artists’ Equity, Bay Area Video Coalition, and Artists’ Television Access in San Francisco.Publications featuring the work of Sharon Grace include:
