National Club Golfer magazine was launched by Sports publications in April 1994.
The magazine started as a paper but changed to a glossy magazine in 1997. National Club Golfer, or NCG as it is known to regular readers, is the only magazine in the United Kingdom that is distributed to every golf club in England, Wales, and Scotland free of charge. It is also one of the biggest golf publications in the country, with a circulation of over 70,000.
The current editor is Dan Murphy, and the editorial staff includes Deputy Editor Mark Townsend, Production Editor Chris Bertram, and Staff Writer Joe Whitley.
Its design team consists of Andrew Kenworthy and Daniel Cooper, while the sales team comprises Richard Holt, Mark Kilburn, Luke Kelly and Neil Braddish.
Sports Publications, who publish the magazine, also put together a magazine dedicated to feminine golf, Lady Golfer, which is the biggest lady-golf-orientated magazine in the UK, going out to every club in England, Wales, and Scotland with a circulation of over 25,000.
In May 2005 both magazines launched a website featuring lots of their content, at www.nationalclubgolfer.com.
Following a big re-design in mid-2010, the magazine is now one of the most respected and well read in the UK.
