Nellissery

Nellissery is a famous and ancient Syrian Christian family in Kerala, India. The family traces its roots back to Palghat, wherefrom the ancestors migrated to Enamavu & from there to Valapad parish. The ancestral home in Valapad is over 600 years old.

In the early 19th century, a member of Nellissery family at Valappad named Thomas( Thomman) migrated and settled down at Elavoor on the left bank of river Chalakkudy
The full family name is Arakkal Nellissery. Nellissery family get together happens every year at Valapad.

Now there are around 100 nellissery families in Elavoor, Ernakulam district of Kerala. Nellissery Family association is very active in socio cultural area and they get together every year in January. Fr. George Nellissery (Canada) is the Patron of the Nellissery Association.
