The stated objective of the Institute for Advanced Science and Engineering is "the explanation of experience in nature." Their goal is to scientifically explain the evolution and operation of senses, and to identify methods of proof (usually considered difficult or impossible). They reject the conventional acceptance of the identity theory of mind that provides the foundation of most of today's explanations. They argue, with Roger Penrose, that current physical models are not complete, new discoveries are to be made and new theoretical developments are necessary. The current work attempts to build upon the earlier efforts of logical positivism.
IASE, located in Sunnyvale, California, runs lectures and workshops at Stanford University's Center for the Study of Language and Information on "The Foundations of Logic and Apprehension."
