Jacques Majorelle (
March 7 1886 -October 14 1962 ), son of the celebratedArt Nouveau furniture designerLouis Majorelle , was a French painter. He studied at theÉcole des Beaux-Arts inNancy in 1901 and later at theAcadémie Julian inParis with Schommer and Royer. In 1919 he went toMarrakech ,Morocco to recover from heart problems. He returned to France in 1962 after a car incident and died later that year of complications from his injuries.His biggest art work is said to be
Majorelle Garden which he created in 1924. A special colour of blue which he used extensively in the garden is named after him,Majorelle Blue .He is also famous for his [http://edn.nancy.fr/web/index.php?page=maison-d-artiste Villa Majorelle] that he had designed and built in 1901-1902.
