Paulo Lourenço Martins Alves, commonly shortened to Paulo Alves born December 10,1969 in Vila Real, Portugal) is a Portuguese former footballer and current manager of Gil Vicente, in the Portuguese Liga de Honra.

As a player, Alves joined Porto as a 17 year old. He was a member of the Portugal side that won the World Youth Championship in 1989. During his career, he played for Gil Vicente (twice), Tirsense, Marítimo, Sporting Braga, Sporting CP, Bastia and União Leiria. He also played in England with West Ham United on loan, but managed just four substitute appearances during his three month stay. His second spell at Gil Vicente saw him finish as the club's top scorer for the 2001-02 season, with 11 goals in 27 games. He also represented the Portuguese national team scoring 7 goals in 13 appearances, from 1994 to 1996.He scored a hat trick in a friendly for Portugal against Liechtenstein in a 8-0 win.
