Louis Arthur (Skip) Bafalis, (born
Boston ,Suffolk County ,Massachusetts ,September 28 ,1929 ) is a retired American politician, who served as a Representative fromFlorida .Bafalis graduated from
Manchester Central High School ,Manchester, New Hampshire in 1948 , then attended St. Anselm’s College, Manchester, until 1952. He was in theUnited States Army from 1953 to 1956 and subsequently worked as aninvestment banker .He was elected to the
Florida House of Representatives in 1964 then served as a member of theFlorida state senate from 1966 to 1970. He was an unsuccessful candidate for nomination forGovernor of Florida in 1970, then was elected as a Republican to the Ninety-thirdUnited States Congress and to the four succeeding congresses (January 3 1973 –January 3 1983 ).He was not a candidate for re-election to the Ninety-eighth Congress in 1982, but was an unsuccessful nominee for Governor of Florida. He then worked as a governmental affairs consultant until running against Porter Goss, before being defeated once more. Bafalis is now a resident of Palm Beach, Florida.
