Mission Middle School (Bellevue, Nebraska)

Mission Middle School is a middle school located in Bellevue, Nebraska which educates children in grades seven and eight. Its location in Bellevue is 2202 Washington Street, at the corner of Mission Avenue and Washington Street.

The school name was changed to Mission Junior High School in 1966 based on student recommendations. Established in 1869, previous names for the school include Bellevue School District #1, Main School, Bellevue Junior/Senior High School, and Bellevue Junior High School. The name Mission is in honor of the Presbyterian Board of Missions. In 1846 the board built a school in Bellevue to educate and house Native American (Omaha, Pawnee, and Otoe) children until the Omahas sold their land to the federal government in 1854. The Omahas provided the Presbyterian Board of Missions with a square mile of land located in present day Bellevue known as the Mission Reserve, which is where Mission Middle School is located.

The school principal is Mrs. Laurie Hanna. The school enrolls approximately 670 students annually, with an average student-teacher ratio of 14.0 to 1, in line with the district and state average. The ethnicity makeup of the school is 79% Caucasian, 10% African American, 5% Hispanic, 3% Asian/Pacific Islander, and 1% American Indian. 21.2% of the school is eligible for the free or reduced lunch program, compared to the state average of 32.4%.

The school mascot and team name is the Braves.

They have multiple teams, or groups, that are in the same hall to help with movement of classes. The teams are: 7th: Journey, Champions, and Intrepid. 8th: Thunder, and Lightning.

Mission's Rival School is Logan Fontenelle Middle School. Students usually go to Bellevue East or West High Schools after graduating the 8th grade.
