It lies on the Ceiriog River and is at the end of the B4500 road, five miles (8km) south-west ofGlyn Ceiriog and ten miles (16km) north-west ofOswestry in theCeiriog Valley ward, Clwyd South National Assembly for Wales constituency and Clwyd South parliamentary constituency.The name "Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog" roughly translates into English as "the church of St Garmon in the valley of the river Ceiriog"
