- Dr Who on Holiday
Dr Who on Holiday is the second track from the mash up album, "
American Edit " created by Dean Gray (a collaboration of "Party Ben " and "Team 9 "). It combines Green Day's "Holiday" with Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll Part 2 " and "Doctorin' The TARDIS " byThe Timelords (better known as The KLF). "Doctorin' The TARDIS" itself takes a sample from "Rock and Roll Part 2".Song layout
The song starts with a "conversation" created by splicing together quotations by
George W. Bush , taken from a speech given atFort Hood ,Texas ,United States in 2003, [http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/01/20030103.html] with excerpts from the science-fictiontelevision series "Doctor Who ", includingDalek speech from "Genesis of the Daleks " and the sound effect used for theTARDIS . The "conversation" goes as follows:*Bush : "Either you're with those who love freedom, or you're with those who hate innocent life."
*Dalek : "All inferior species are to be considered the enemy of the Daleks and destroyed."
*Bush : "Either you're with us, or you're with the enemy."
*Dalek : "We obey no one, we are the superior beings!" (This clip is used in Doctorin' the TARDIS itself as well)The song then goes on to play the start of "Holiday" and goes on to layer "Doctorin' the TARDIS" over the top. The "whistle like"
Doctor Who theme is layered over the verses of "Holiday". The song then stops and the "chant" from "Doctorin' The TARDIS" is then played over the "main" part of "Holiday". There is then more verses of "Holiday" until the change of riff. "Rock and Roll Part 2" is then layered over the top of the "build up" to the final verses. The ending is a complicated mix of all three songs.Video
