Edmondson graduated from
Sarasota High School in 1949. He then received hisBachelor of Arts from theUniversity of Florida in 1955. He received hisMM in Composition from theUniversity of Kentucky . For ten years he taught music in public school. During this time he wrote many compositions for his own students. Also at this time, he was Staff arranger for theUniversity of Kentucky WildcatMarching Band . He also arranged several other universities, and regional high school marching bands.After his teaching career, he became the Educational
Editor forHansen Publications inMiami Beach . He was in this position for 10 years. In the duration of this period, he composed hundreds of publications. This includes works for concert bands, marching bands, TheFun-Way Band Method , instrumental solo books, and several other instructional material. After this, he went on to become Director of Concert Band Publications for Jenson Publications, inWisconsin . At this time he added several new pieces to his catalog.Edmondson became a freelance writer for 7 years. This was the time where he published over 300 works to 15 different catalogs of publishers. He also married
Anne McGinty .From 1987 to 2001 both John Edmondson and
Anne McGinty owned and operated Queenwood publications, now part of the Neil A. Kjos Music Company.External links
