Guru Harkrishan Public School

Guru Harkrishan Public School is a co-educational, senior secondary school, affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Progressive in its approach, it aims to impart value-based education inspired by the life and teachings of the Sikh Gurus. It was among the first in the chain of schools established by the Gurudwara Management Committee in 1965, which today has 10 branches in different parts of Delhi, imparting quality education to more than 20,000 students.

Aims and Objectives

The holistic approach adopted by the school aims at not just excellence in education, but also the overall development of a child. Due emphasis is given to the creative, cultural, physical and spiritual aspects of a child's development. This is achieved through activities like sports, gardening, excursions etc. Furthermore, a counselling centre, headed by highly qualified professionals, has been set up to provide students the right direction and focus in a career-oriented competitive world. This centre works in close coordination with parents and teachers, to cover all aspects of student counselling.

Faculty

The school offers a good blend of experienced and young teachers. They regularly participate in orientation courses and seminars to keep abreast of developing and experimental concepts in education.

The school has a well equipped AV Room with a Colour TV, VCR, IBM compatible projector, mike and radio system.

Computer labs

Computer science and informatics are offered to the students as elective Board subjects at the senior secondary level. The school has a well equipped Computer-cum-Multimedia Centre.

Library

The school library is equipped with the latest Computer and Internet Systems. It offers more than 15,000 books and children's magazines, journals and reference books.

Uniform Shop and Book Shop

The school has a uniform shop and book shop on the premises of the school for the convenience of parents and students. The prices of all items are fixed by the school authorities.

Bank Extension Counter

An extension counter of the Punjab and Sind Bank is situated on the school premises. Parents and students have the facility of depositing the fee directly in the bank through the fee booklet.

Medical Aid

The school has a well-equipped Medical Room. A doctor visits the school every day to attend to the minor ailments of students and to provide first aid in case of emergency. A thorough medical check-up of all the students is done once a year and reports are sent to parents.

Transport

Bus facility is provided to the students, but cannot however be claimed as a matter of right. The bus charges are in accordance with the distance of the route and subject to revision from time to time. The school also has a fleet of its own buses for educational tours and excursions.

Canteen

The school has a well-maintained canteen where snacks, cold drinks and ice creams are sold at reasonable rates during the breaks. Strict control is exercised on the quality of eatables by a duly constituted canteen committee, comprising of the school doctor and senior teachers.
