The Campbell family was a prominent Krio family during the early 20th century. The family originally came from Nigeria, but eventually settled in Sierra Leone. The family owned a large area of land on Fourah Bay Road which was nicknamed 'Fire Burn' because it was a large area of land. The Campbell family burial place was at Race Course Cemetery.
