Gephyrin

Gephyrin

Gephyrin is a protein that is a component of the postsynaptic protein network of inhibitory synapses. Positive antibody staining for gephyrin at a synapse is consistent with the presence of glycine and/or GABA-A receptors. Gephyrin displaces GABA receptors from the GABARAP/P130 complex, then brings the receptors to the synapse. Once at the synapse, the protein binds to collybistin.
