Walter George Tarrant (
8 April 1875 –18 March 1942 ) was abuilder born in Brockhurst,Hampshire ,England . He was responsible for constructing excellent housing inWeybridge ,Byfleet ,Pyrford andVirginia Water , where he pioneered theWentworth Estate .In 1895 he set up his own building company in the town of Byfleet and in the early 1900s built extensively in Pyrford,
West Byfleet andWoking . in 1911 he bought 964 acres ofSurrey scrubland from the Egertons, the family ofLord Ellesmere which he developed into theSt George's Hill estate. His company went intoreceivership in 1932 as a resul ofThe Depression . However Tarrant Builders Limited, the building arm of the company, persisted and work onSt George's Hill continued until the 1940s.Tarrant died in 1942 as a result of a
