Russell Northe (born 6 February 1966) is an Australian politician and member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly since 2007. [http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/handbook/searchresult.cfm?menuid=1&memberId=1693 Parliament of Victoria Parliamentary Handbook] ] . He was previously a local Australian rules football living legend and fitness guru before winning Nationals preselection for the seat of Morwell. Utilising his vast local profile, repetitive television advertising and campaigning on the issues of workers rights, same sex marriages, bicycle paths and protection for the endangered wallingarro nocturnal moth, he was able to capitalise on internal divisions in local Australian Labor Party branches to secure victory. Mr Northe was able to double the Nationals primary vote, he secured with the aid of Liberal Party and ex labor independent preferences; and the first time the seat was lost by the Australian Labor Party in almost 140 years. This win also secured Nationals official party status.

Russell Northe joins fellow Nationals parliamentarians Peter Ryan, Peter Hall and Peter Jester as parliamentary representatives for Gippsland.
