Rico Rex started figure skating when he was 4 years old in the result of the talent screening in East-Germany.
Rico Rex was first a single skater and participated until 1993 in championships in the men’s events. He continued with pair skating. His first partner was
Silvia Dimitrov until 1997. Their best international result was an 8th place at the Europeans 1996. Silvia Dimitrov retired in 1997 due to an injury.Rex then teamed up with
Katharina Rybkowski with whom he skated until 2000. Their coach in Chemnitz wasMonika Scheibe . The pair never participated at Europeans or Wolds. He then briefly teamed up withStefanie Weiss , but they did not compete together.In 2001 Rico Rex teamed up with the Czech
Radka Zlatohlavkova . They split after having to withdraw from the 2002German Figure Skating Championships .In Spring 2002, Rex teamed up with
Eva-Maria Fitze . The pair trained in Chemnitz. Their coach wasIngo Steuer until December 2005. Their new coach becameMonika Scheibe . Rico Rex always represented the club Chemnitzer EC. Rex competed with Fitze at the2006 Winter Olympics , placing 15th. After that, he turned professional.Rex also works as a figure skating coach in
