date-dens=1999Villers-le-Sec is a village and commune of the
Meuse "département" in Lorraine,France , in the olddiocese of Toul .Geography
Its name comes from that there are no rivers, because Villers-le-Sec is located on a plateau between the valleys of
Ornain and ofSaulx . However, the village is not completely deprived of water since it is located above ground and the ponds are very numerous. Although their water level is much lower than before (some even disappeared), the neighbourhoods of the village are rather marshy.History
Today inhabited by 351 people, the village of Villers-le-Sec counted more than 500 inhabitants. At that time, the locality lived primarily next to the
iron mine . There were five "bistrot s", but the last of those has been closed for more than five years. Wood remains a significant resource today for all of the canton of Montiers-sur-Saulx, along with raw materials and loggers, sawmills, cabinet work, furniture manufacturers. The only company which remains today is itdistilling , which produces drops ofmirabelle during the wet season. The village is also very pretty from its many masonries, but especially for the florists in front of each house.
