William F. Kivlichan, nicknamed Doc, was the first player to play for both Scottish football sides Rangers and Celtic in the early 1900s. He became the first player to cross the
Old Firm divide twice.Kivlichan was a
Catholic doctor of medicine, who played for Rangers as a student and transferred to Celtic in 1907. He who signed for Rangers in 1905 from Glasgow University and played 29 games in two years before moving toParkhead in a swap deal with Alex Bennett going to Ibrox. Kivlichan did not return to play for Rangers. After he Qualified in Medicine from Glasgow University, he became the Team Doctor for Celtic for several years and was by John Thomson side as the young Celtic Goalie was stretchered off from Ibrox Park on that tragic day on 5th September 1931.
