Tony O’Dell (born January 30, 1960) is an American actor, perhaps most noted for his role as preppy "Alan Pinkard" on the ABC series "Head of the Class".

Early life and career

O'Dell was born Anthony Dell'Aquila in Pasadena, California. He was first noticed in a 1978 episode of the NBC television series "CHiPs". In the episode titled "Trick or Treat". His first co-starring role was in 1985 on the short lived CBS science fiction series "Otherworld". He played the role of Trace Sterling. 13 episodes of the series were filmed but only 8 were broadcast before being cancelled in March 1985.

"Head of the Class"

O’Dell’s next co-starring role was of Manhattan based high school student Alan Pinkard on ABC-TV series "Head of the Class" (1986-1991). Alan was preppy, ultra conservative, egotistical. His area of expertise was political science. Alan and his classmates were considered to be geniuses and were placed in the "Individualized Honors Program", more commonly referred to as the "I.H.P", for advanced and gifted students.
