Enrico Mainardi (
May 19 ,1897 ,Milan –April 10 ,1976 ,Munich ) was an Italian cellist,composer , and conductor.At the age of thirteen, in 1910, Mainardi had already begun his career as a cello
virtuoso who toured the concert halls ofEurope . He later taught at the Hochschule für Musik inBerlin and theAccademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia inRome , and also held summer classes inSalzburg andLucerne . Pupils of his who later became distinguished includedSiegfried Palm ,Miklós Perényi ,Michael Steinkühler ,Heidi Litschauer , andJoan Dickson .Together with the
pianist Edwin Fischer and theviolinist Georg Kulenkampff (whose place was later taken byWolfgang Schneiderhan ), Mainardi formed a famouspiano trio . In 1967, he also founded a trio with the pianistGuido Agosti and the flutistSeverino Gazzelloni .As a composer, Mainardi wrote
orchestra l works, a cello concerto per due violoncelli, andchamber music . He wrote solo sonatas also the"Sonata breve" (published by Schott) in 1942.External links
