- György Kozmann
György Kozmann (born
March 23 ,1978 inSzekszárd ) is a Hungarian flatwater canoer. At the 2004 Olympics he won a bronze medal in the C2 Canadian canoe 1000m final with teammateGyörgy Kolonics .He has also won two world championship gold medals. His first title came in 2001 in the four-man C4 1000m in
Poznań , Poland. Two years later, in Gainesville, USA, Kozmann was a member of the Hungary C4 200m crew which crossed the line second but were later awarded the gold medal after Russia'sSergey Ulegin failed a drugs test. Since 2003 he has been the C2 partner of György Kolonics winning gold medal in 2006 on 1000m.In the European championships Kozmann has been a gold medallist four times - C4 500m (2002), C4 1000m (2000 and 2002) and C2 500m (2004).
After the death of Kolonics only weeks prior the 2008 Olympics to where the pair qualified for both the C2 500m and the C2 1000m events, Kozmann initially refused to take part in the games, but eventually changed his mind after consulting with his coach, friends and Kolonics's friends. He competed in the C2 1000m event with
Tamás Kiss , and the pair finished on the third place in the C2 1000m final.Kozmann is a member of the
Atomerőmű SE club and is coached byAttila Szabó . He is 179 cm (5'10") tall and weighs 83 kg (182 lbs).World Championships
