Incorporating Just Jeans, Dotti, Jay Jays, Jacqui-E, Portmans, Peter Alexander and Smiggle, it's growth and aggressive marketing have shaped the Australian and New Zealand retail market.

History

Just Jeans was first founded in 1970 by the Kimberly Family. The first store was opened on Chapel Street, Prahan. The idea of selling jeans stacked on shelves was new to the market, but proved to be popular. In 1993 when around 200 Just Jeans stores had been opened the company acquired Jay Jays. Following this Jacqui-E, Peter Alexander, Portmans, Dotti and Smiggle were acquired in 1994, 2000, 2001, 2004 and 2007, respectively. Now branded under the name, The Just Group, the company continues to drive and excel Australasia's retail market. The Just Group is currently owned and operated by Kimbyr Investments Ltd. Their headquarters are based in Richmond, Melbourne and Penrose, Auckland.

Jay Jays
Value for money "street smart" casual apparel for the 16-18 year-old youth market, offering a range of clothing and accessories that covers basic casual, street, surf and club styles. Acquired in 1993.

Portmans
Office and casualwear targeted at value-conscious 20 -26 year-old women. Acquired in 2001.

Dotti
Fast, fashionable clothes and accessories for the teenage girl. Acquired in 2004.

Smiggle
Smiggle focuses on giving customers the hottest looking stationery products, in the best range of colours at the best possible price. Acquired in 2007.

Jacqui-E
Quality and fashionable womenswear at mid-market price-points, targeted at the 30-35 year-old career and family woman. Acquired in 1994.

Peter Alexander
Sleepwear, intimates, fashionable fitness apparel, bedlinen, casual and fashionable resortwear and accessories, sold primarily by way of catalogue, Internet and stores. Acquired in 2000.
