Wendell Tyrone Davis (born January 3, 1966 in
Shreveport, Louisiana ) is a former professionalAmerican football wide receiver who played for theChicago Bears for six seasons from 1988 to 1993. He was selected by the Bears in the 1st round (27th overall) in the1988 NFL Draft .In his pro career, Davis played in 81 games, catching 207 receptions for 3,000 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is infamous for injuring both of his
patella tendons simultaneously while simply running a pass route on the notoriously badAstroturf atVeterans Stadium inPhiladelphia . The injury was effectively career-ending.Davis currently owns and operates a franchise of a
barber shop s called "Big League Barbers" located inRiverwoods, Illinois . Currently he is a defensive coach for Maize High School inMaize, Kansas , which is located near Wichita. After his career ending injury he had a daughter named Sydney and a son named Malcolm Davis who both currently go to West Oak Middle School in Mundelein, IL.
